"U BETTER Sing," a premier web series program, serves as a catalyst for youth to develop music literacy that fosters artistic appreciation, knowledge of science, math, history, language arts, and global citizenship, to create a unique and inspired life.
"U BETTER Sing!" is a unique educational program that is the first of its kind to teach music literacy, basic music theory, music history/ethnomusicology, vocal pedagogy, music and its relationship to science, math, history, language arts, and social skills, and world cultures to its target audience of children ages 10 to 14. This innovative and fun music education show has explicit educational goals that are woven into the clever story lines, character development, show website, and educational outreach materials to foster musical growth and development both in and outside of the elementary and middle school classroom.
In addition to teaching music for the sake of music, the show also focuses on expanding knowledge in the areas of math, science, reading and writing via arts education. The social skills/cultural diversity component of the show teaches rehearsal etiquette, performance etiquette, audience etiquette, and knowledge and acceptance of situations and cultures that may be unfamiliar to its target audience. These components are beneficial for mainstream classrooms and special education classrooms in elementary and middle schools.
Finally, "U BETTER Sing!" has mass appeal because it also features the talents of musicians of all ages from Austin's rich cultural community as well as featuring the talents of various musical genres around the globe in our ever expanding global community.
